Holbrook Jackson (1874-1948) was born in Liverpool, England. He began publishing articles at age 16 while working as a clerk. He co-edited the in 1907 and edited , which he later bought out in order to edit his own literary journal, (1917-23). He also wrote many books. The collection contains literary manuscripts including the manuscript of (written under the pseudonym George Henry Hart) and four letters written by Jackson to various persons.
